A big part of the Special Forces Community is our Veterans and their Families. The SFCT is committed to support their legacy, ensure their welfare, and provide assistance wherever and whenever possible.
Examples of Veterans and Heritage Support provided, include but are not limited to:
Hosting and/or funding receptions for recovered SF MIA’s/KIA’s
Hosting and/or funding receptions and monuments for our SF Medal of Honor recipients.
Assisting with the funding of memorials and monuments in honor of SF Soldiers killed in action.
Sponsoring professional counseling services for SF Soldiers and their Families.
Providing funding to organizations who advocate for SF Veterans.
Supporting the annual Special Forces Association National Conventions.
On a case-by-case basis, providing emergency financial support for SF Veterans.
Norma Donlon Caregiver Grant
The Caregiver Program is inspired by the remarkable dedication of Norma Donlon, a Special Forces wife, who gracefully cared for her Warrior, Roger Hugh Charles Donlon. Roger, a United States Army Officer, who was not only the first person to receive the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War, but also the first member of the United States Army Special Forces to be so honored.
Norma Donlon has faced her fair share of challenges and hardships. At just 22 years old, she became a Gold Star wife when her first husband, 1st Lt. John W. Irving, USA Ranger, lost his life in Vietnam. But Norma's strength and resilience didn't stop there. Throughout her second husband's 12-year battle with Agent Orange - Parkinson's Disease, she showed extraordinary patience, unwavering dedication, and remarkable fortitude. Despite facing numerous obstacles, Norma gracefully and determinedly navigated their health journey, caring for her husband with poise and dignity. Her commitment and strength are truly awe-inspiring, serving as an inspiration to us all.
